Frequently asked questions
Here are the questions we are asked most often about transit trade, our product groups and the way we work. If you cannot find your answer, feel free to write to us.
01What is transit trade?
Transit trade means buying a product in one country and selling it directly to a buyer in a third country without importing it into Türkiye. The goods travel from the country of origin to the country of destination, while the contract, payment and document processes are managed from Istanbul.
02Do the goods never pass through Türkiye?
No, they do not. The goods are shipped directly from the port of origin to the port of destination. Depending on the route there may be transshipment ports, but the goods never enter Turkish customs.
03Which products do you work with?
We work with pulses, grains and flour products, fresh fruit and vegetables, olives and edible oils, dairy products, meat and poultry, seafood, confectionery and beverages, animal feed, and agricultural machinery and spare parts. Requests for other products covered by our articles of association are reviewed separately.
04What information should I send to get a quote?
The product and variety, quality values or specification, quantity, packaging, delivery terms, port or city of destination and your preferred payment method. The clearer the information, the faster and more accurate the quote.
05Which delivery terms do you work with?
Depending on the product and route, we work with Incoterms 2020 terms such as FOB, CFR, CIF, FCA, CPT and DAP. The delivery term is stated clearly in the contract.
06How is payment made?
We can work with a letter of credit (L/C), cash against documents (CAD) or advance payment. For new business relationships we recommend a letter of credit; the payment method is set out in the contract.
07Can you send samples?
Depending on the product and the supplier, we provide quality approval through samples or an analysis report from an accredited laboratory. For perishable products, an analysis report and loading inspection are usually preferred.
08How do you guarantee quality?
We carry the buyer's specification over one to one into the supplier contract, request food safety certificates and analysis reports from the supplier and, where needed, have loading checked by an independent inspection company.
09How do you transport products that need a cold chain?
We ship meat, dairy, seafood and fresh produce in reefer containers or refrigerated vehicles, with temperature and ventilation set for each product. The temperature record is added to the document file.
10Can you supply products under my own brand?
For packaged food, private label supply is possible, depending on the suitability of the producing plant and the minimum production quantity. Label language and ingredient declaration are planned from the start.
11Is there a minimum order quantity?
The minimum quantity depends on the product and the mode of transport. For most products we work with at least one full container load; for bulk products, lot size is determined by the supplier and the vessel type.
12In which languages can we communicate?
We correspond in Turkish and English. Our website is published in Turkish, English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and Chinese.
Do you have a specification in hand?
Tell us the product, quantity and port of destination. We will review your request and come back with the most suitable source and delivery terms.
