Transit trade in food and agricultural products

We buy food at its source and deliver it to the buyer's port.

From Istanbul, BOHEM Gıda Tarım manages the transit trade of food and agricultural products, from pulses to olive oil and from dairy to farm machinery. Goods are loaded in the country where they are produced and travel to the buyer's country without entering Türkiye, while contract, documents and payment come together at a single desk.

Four stages of a shipment

  1. Seed

Every trade starts with the right product.

Variety, crop year, moisture, broken ratio, calibre. We read the buyer's specification line by line and look for a producer whose goods meet it.

  2. Harvest

We know the product in the field and in the warehouse.

Samples, analysis reports and pre-loading checks. Before shipment we know where the goods are and in what condition they are waiting.

  3. Route

Goods take the shortest way and never stop in Türkiye.

Direct shipment from the port of origin to the port of destination. Needless transshipment, interim storage and double customs costs disappear.

  4. Container

The doors close and the document flow begins.

The bill of lading, invoice, certificates of origin and health certificates are ready on time, and payment proceeds exactly as the contract states.

Product groups

Ten product groups, one trading discipline.

We have organised the food and agricultural activities in our articles of association into ten product groups. Each group has its own specifications, packaging, cold chain and document set, and we work on all of them with the same care.

Wherever a product is grown, its trade takes shape in Istanbul.

Time differences between Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa are small and travel times short. Istanbul is a natural desk for transit trade.

Document file

A food shipment is only as secure as its documents.

In transit trade, goods leave from a port you cannot see. Trust travels with the documents. We build, check and deliver the file for every shipment to the buyer on time.

How we work

Six steps from request to delivery.

  1. 01

    Request and specification

We clarify the product, quantity, packaging, delivery terms and port of destination.

  2. 02

    Sourcing and pricing

We find and compare suitable producers and exporters, then prepare our offer.

  3. 03

    Samples and approval

The buyer approves the quality on the basis of samples or an analysis report.

  4. 04

    Contract and payment

Purchase and sales contracts are matched, and a letter of credit, cash against documents or advance payment is set up.

  5. 05

    Loading and inspection

Booking, loading checks and, where needed, independent inspection.

  6. 06

    Documents and delivery

Documents are sent to the bank or the buyer, and the goods are delivered at the port of destination.

How we work

Why BOHEM

What sets us apart is the part of the work you do not see.

  • A single point of contact

We, not you, deal with the supplier, shipping line, bank and inspection company. You are left with one contract and one line of communication.

  • Specification discipline

The buyer's specification is carried over unchanged into the supplier contract. If a quality difference arises, the chain of responsibility is clear from the start.

  • Direct route

Goods do not enter Türkiye, so there is no interim storage, second customs clearance or extra handling cost.

  • Documents first

Documents are checked in draft before the goods set off. We reduce the risk of discrepancies under a letter of credit from the outset.

  • Respect for the cold chain

For meat, dairy, seafood and fresh produce, temperature, ventilation and transit time are stated in every offer.

  • Open communication

Loading dates, vessel details and document status are shared regularly. We prefer a schedule to surprises.

Our articles of association go further

Beyond food, other areas we can trade in.

Our main focus is food and agricultural products. Our articles of association, however, also allow us to buy, sell, import and export in the areas below. We review requests for these products separately.
